World Usability Day is Finally Here!

If you are like me, you wait all year for World Usability Day to come...the wait is over! OK, maybe it is not my favorite day of the year but I do think it is a good day. It was pointed out to me in a post on the Crea8pc site called 'The Shots Heard Around the Search Marketing Industry Will Bang Better with Usability.' As mentioned in the article, many people in the search engine optimization let usability fall to the wayside because their goal is to get people to click on the site. My personal opinion is that usability is just as important as the traditional SEO procedures because, A. it increases the likelihood of a conversion and B. a quality web site has more link potential...I consider quality web sites to be user friendly. When I analyze a site to find ways to make it search engine friendly, I always have ideas that would enhance the usability of the site, so why not take a note and suggest the change?

Dynamic URLs are OK? Thanks Google!

Recently Google confirmed that their technology is indeed good enough to crawl dynamic URLs. Although static URLs may be more eye appealing, there is no need for you to go and rewrite your URLs to static URLs. The article does mention that click-through-rate may suffer when using dynamic because users are more likely to click on a URL that is easily legible. My own concern is that although Googlebot has the technology to make its way through dynamic URLs, how far behind are the other engines? Google carries the search engine market share, but it is important to remember the other engines because we don't know what the future will bring. Check out the full article on the Official Google Webmaster Blog.

A protocol 80, Inc. Addition

Me. You don't know me yet, but you will. I have recently joined the p80 team so I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. The SEO/SEM industry has become a true passion for me. I started my career at an SEO/SEM firm called IMPAQT working with Fortune 500 companies. A large portion of my time was spent on a well known financial company performing SEO and PPC services. I am excited to have the opportunity to help small businesses get noticed in the crowded search engine world. It is often difficult for a small business to afford the SEO/SEM services of a large firm, but we are able to offer services that can fit into a small business marketing budget. Look for future posts from me keeping you in the SEO/SEM loop!
